THE PROBLEM: What Is CDV?

When you grow up in a home witnessing domestic violence, that’s Childhood Domestic Violence. Carlie witnessed domestic violence in childhood and the effects stayed with her into adulthood. Through the lens of childhood, domestic violence is violence between parents or towards a parent from a significant other. It can be physical or nonphysical.

Unlike most other universally understood childhood adversities – such as physical child abuse or sexual abuse – CDV remains largely unknown, even among those who experience it, like Carlie.
